Unknown - March, 1962Friends were saddened to learn of the death of John D. Dawson March 27th in Eureka, Illinois. He was born and reared in Morris, Illinois, attended Northwestern University, receiving a degree in Pharmacy. Moving to Los Angeles, Cal., in the early 1920's he operated a drug store there while attending law school. After receiving his law degree he later moved to Denver and after practicing there for some time, moved to Glenrock and opened a law office. He was elected County and Prosecuting Attorney in 1926, and moved with his family to Douglas in 1927, and served in that office until 1930.
In 1928 he formed a law partnership with the Honorable T.C. Daniels which was not terminated until 1935 when the Dawsons moved back to Illinois. Though he passed the Illinois Bar, he resumed his career as a Pharmacist and owned and operated a Walgreen Drug store in Eureka until the time of his death.
Funeral services were held in Eureka April 2nd. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Luttiken, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Dawson passed away about ten years ago.
