Graveside services for William Daniel Davies, 90, of Hoquiam, Washington, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 1979 in Douglas Park Cemetery.

Mr. Davies died April 27, 1979 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Hoquiam, Wash.

He was born June 17, 1988(wrong typed date) at Chicago, Ill., the son of Owen and Bertha Davies.

He lived in Chicago and Kansas City where he worked as a pressman and assisted in printing the first color catalog for Sears. He had played baseball for Kansas City semi-pro.

He married Nora Mae Haley on October 28, 1908 at Leavenworth.

Bill and Nora homesteaded near Shawnee in 1912. In 1921 he started a grocery store in Shawnee and one in Lost Spring in 1923, where he was also the mayor 3 terms. they moved to Lyman, Neb. in 1936 where he operated hi own store until 1945 when he started another store in Thermopolis which he sold in 1948, semi-retiring to cut meat.

Nora died in 1958 and he married Florence Knupp in 1960 in Henry, Neb. He moved to Hoquiam to be near his son because of ill health.

He was a member of Ashlar Masonic Lodge #10, F. & A.M. of Douglas for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife, Florence E.; sons, Owen T. and Willard L.; daughters, Marian B. Shefneer and Mildred F. McKinney; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Nora.
