Memorial services for June B. Degney will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Bustard's Funeral Home.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at the Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery.

"Junie" or "Tough", as she was fondly called by her family throughout her life, died at her home Nov. 11, 1995, following a long battle with lung disease.

She was born in Laramie, Feb. 13, 1924, to Wallace Whitney and Emma (Lamken) Burnett. She was raised on the family ranch at Little Medicine and graduated from University (Prep) High School and attended the University of Wyoming.

Mrs. Degney taught briefly in Albany and Platte County rural schools. During World War II, she worked in airplane factories in Los Angeles and Great Falls, Mont.

She was married to George Degney Feb. 24, 1946, in Laramie. George preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1995.

Mrs. Degney worked at the Bank of Laramie until 1961 when the family moved to Colorado. In 1976 George and June moved to Casper. She worked briefly for the Hilltop National Bank before fulfilling her dream of becoming a real estate sales person. She worked for Luker Realty, J.J. Pettrini and Arrow Realty.

Although ill health forced her retirement in the early 1980s she maintained the active status of her real estate license until her death.

Survivors include her daughter Darlene Hageman of Douglas; sons Richard Degney of Chugwater and Kenneth Degney of Elko, Nev.; brother Richard "Dick" Burnett of Little Medicine and Medicine Bow; sister Meva Dobson of Wheatland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a teenage sister, Shirley Burnett.

Memorials to the American Lung Association of Wyoming, the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, the Casper Area Transportation Coalition or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Memorials may be left at Bustard Funeral Home.
