Douglas Budget - 1993Funeral services for Frances Fern Demmer, 64, were held July 27 at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with Pastor Richard Mueller of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Demmer died July 23, 1993, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Douglas, the daughter of Robert A. and Fern L. (Humphrey) Curtis.
She was reared on the family ranch southwest of Douglas, attending Beaver Country School and graduating from the Douglas High School.
She attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie and returned to Converse County to teach school at the Bill and Grant Schools.
She was married to John R. Demmer on Jan. 22, 1952, in Douglas.
They lived in various western states, including South Dakota, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, California, Washington, Wyoming, and Saudia Arabia because of John's job.
They returned to Douglas in the mid 1980s for retirement, and she resided here until the time of her death. She attended Missouri Lutheran churches in the places that they lived, and she loved to crochet blankets.
She is survived by her husband, John, of Douglas; two sons, Mark L. Demmer of Sheridan, and Curtis L. Demmer of Everett, Wash.; her mother, Fern of Douglas; one sister, Constance M. Rodeman of Douglas; one brother, Robert D. Curtis of Douglas; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father on Oct. 19, 1990.
Serving as pallbearers were Jack Sullivan, John Ralph Sullivan, Rory Cross, Robert Cross, Leroy Sanford, and Bill White.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
