Services for Donald Oliver Diehl Sr., 69, were held Aug. 5 at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie with family friend Dan nelson officiating.

Mr. Diehl passed away July 30, 2003, surrounded by his family at his home near Douglas.

He was born July 15, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo. In 1976 he moved to Laramie. He has lived in Douglas since 1979.

Mr. Diehl served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He belonged to the Teamster Local 600 for 20 years and retired from Brasel-Sims Corporation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved gardening and spending time with his pets.

He is survived by his wife Kathie (Johnson) Diehl; former wife and mother of his four children, Sandy (Boyce) Diehl; son Donald Diehl Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, N.C.; daughters Debbie Shoefelt and husband Mike of Laramie, Diane Diehl of Laramie and Denise Marcus and husband Drew of Mooresville, N.C.; grandchildren Jaime Lapish and husband Chad, Bradley and Ryan Shoefelt, Westin and Skyler Joy and Andrea and Taylor Marcus; great-granddaughter Annie Lapish; stepchildren Tracey Jenkins and children Jennifer, Stephanie, Sara, Rachel and James Jenkins and Jamie Etchemendy and husband Mike and their children Michael Warren and Marty, Meagan and Garrett Etchemendy; and sisters Joan Houston and husband Bert and Virginia Wolfram.

He was preceded in death by his father Oliver Diehl; mother Maisie Popp; stepdaughter Kelly Warren; and step-grandson Jake Jenkins.

Pallbearers were Donald Diehl Jr., Mike Shoefelt, Bradley Shoefelt, Ryan Shoefelt, Dustin Joy and Westin Joy. Honorary pallbearers were Skyler Joy, Drew Marcus, Bert Houston, Charlie Bolfing, Jim Sorrell, Tim Kindel, Joe Kindel and Andre Washington.

Memorials to North Platte Home Health and Hospice, 115 N. Third St., Douglas; Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 2291 W. Broadway, Missoula, Mont., 59807; or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.

Rocky Mountain Funeral Home in Laramie was in charge of arrangements.
