Douglas Budget - January 8, 1996A family memorial service for R.W. "Buck" Dieleman, 72, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Dieleman died Monday, Jan. 8, 1996, at his residence in Douglas after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Manville to Henry and Mary (Kerns) Dieleman.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 1941 and saw action in the British Solomon Islands and the Asiatic Pacific Area from January 1943 through February 1945. After his discharge in August 1945, he married Helen Donelson and later they divorced.
He worked as a cook and as a chef at the Star Dust Casino in Las Vegas for 17 years.
On July 12, 1983, he remarried his first wife, Helen.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Douglas; daughter Debi Hassler of Seattle, Wash.; brothers Retired Lt. Colonel Bill Dieleman of Salinas, Calif., and Phil Dieleman of Thermopolis; sister Betty Metcalf of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society in care of Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, would be appreciated by the family.
Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
