Douglas Budget - November 18, 2004Graveside services for Alice Margarite "Babe" Dieleman, 92, were held Nov. 23 at Douglas Park Cemetery, with Rev. Ginny Maslo of Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.
Mrs. Dieleman died Nov. 18, 2004, of natural causes at Heritage Senior Homes in Grand Junction, Colo.
She was born Alice Margarite Jordan on March 16, 1912, in Blair, Neb., to Oral and Amy (Grover) Jordan. She was the eldest of seven children, four boys and three girls. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
She graduated from high school in Iowa and taught in a one-room schoolhouse during her early married years in Loup County, Neb.
She married Robert Parkin, a native of England in 1932. They were engaged in ranching for many years, and he and a son also preceded her in death. Robert's son, Edward G., is still living.
Babe moved to Wyoming in 1943, eventually settling in Douglas. She married William W. Dieleman in 1952 and became his widow in 1959.
She will be remembered most of many young women who hired her to nurture their young children while their "mom" had to work. In 1993, she moved to Grand Junction, where she resided until her death.
She is survived by two brothers, a sister, a son, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
Her son, Edward G. Parkin, may be contacted at 304 Maple Street, Flippin, Ark., 72634.
