W. H Anthens Dies in Sioux City

Douglas Budget - July 29, 1926

William H. Anthens, for four years mayor of Douglas, died Sunday at his home in Sioux City after a long period of ill health. He suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago and had been failing since that time.

Mr. Anthens was engaged in the blacksmith business in Douglas for a number of years. In 1915 he was elected mayor and served two terms, the present City hall being erected under his administration. In 1920 he moved to Sioux City, which city had been his home until his death.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and four sons.

Mr. Anthens will be kindly remembtred (sic) by many old friends in Douglas.
