An Old-Timer Gone
Bill Barlows Budget - July 13, 1910Death claimed Eugene Amoretti, of Lander on Sunday of last week at Omaha while enroute from Florida where he has been spending his winters of late years to his old home in Wyoming. He was a native of France, and nearing his 90th birthday. Deceased was a pioneer, having located at the then mining camp of South Pass in 1868 where he engaged in the mercantile business, removing to Lander in 1877 where he finally engaged in banking. He was the leading financial citizen of the town from the first, and very wealthy, as his son Eugene, Jr. , is today.
Mrs. J. E. Higgins of Glenrock, is a daughter of the deceased, and was present at the funeral which was held at Lander.
