Mrs. Mary E. Austin, a pioneer resident of Wyoming, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse E. Slichter, at Inez. Death came after an illness of about three months and a general breaking down.Mary E. McCutcheon was a native of Iowa, where she was born on May 9, 1850. With her husband, the late Henry W. Austin, she came to Wyoming at an early date. Mr. Austin operated the first saw mill at Laramie Peak. Later Mr. and Mrs. Austin moved to Belle Fourche, S. D., where they resided until Mr. Austin’s death a few years ago since which time Mrs. Austin has made her home with her daughter. She is survived by three children, Mrs. J.E. Slichter of Inez, Mrs. Ted Pollard of Oregon and a son, Edward Austin, who is a resident of Kansas.
The body is being shipped today to Belle Fourche, S. D., where burial will be made by the side of her husband.
