Douglas Budget - UnknownFuneral services were held at Stark's Chapel Friday. February 3, 1967, for Harry LeRoy Ashmead who died at the Converse County Memorial Hospital February 1, 1967 after a short illness. Rev. Neil Warner officiated. Interment wa in the Douglas Park cemetery.
Mr. Ashmead was born at Lincoln, Nebr., June 3, 1914. He came to Douglas with his ...(sic) when a small boy and lived here all of his life with the exception of the years in military service and 4 years in California following his discharge. He attended grade ad high school here and served with the National Guard and the 115th Cavalry during World War II.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, IOOF Lodge, and American Legion.
Survivors include his mother, Frances Ashmead, of Douglas; one son, Harry L. of medicine Bow; one daughter, Diana, of Fresno, Calif.; one granddaughter, Tami Lynn Ashmead.
Pallbearers were Reolf Larson, I. B. Rupe, Gene Morvee, Carl Holland, Gehe McComb and Ray Warnock. Out-of-town relatives attending funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ashmead of Powell, Wyoming.
