Unknown - March 27, 1958Funeral services for Daniel W. Ballard, 76, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the Baptist church, with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Mr. Ballard died March 18 at Scottsdale, Arizona after an extended illness.

Unknown - March 27, 1958D.W. Ballard, former and old time resident of Douglas died in Scottsdale, Arizona, Tuesday, March 18. He was 76 years and six months of age.
Mr. Ballard was born August 29, 1881, at Mankato, Kansas. He remained in Mankato until manhood and was married to Mary Elizabeth Markle in 1901. They moved to western Kansas where he farmed until 1917, when they came to Converse County, Wyoming, taking a homestead in the Box Creek-Dry Creek area.
Here he ranched until 1950, when he retired and moved to Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife. He is a member of the Masonic and IOOF lodges, and First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his second wife, Abbie, four sons, a daughter, and fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His four sons are Otis, Cody, Wyo.; Emmett, Melvin and Caroll, and daughter, Mrs. Mabel Dixon, all of Douglas.
Active pallbearers were, T.U. Slonaker, Wayne Anderson, Tony Funk, Gene Payne, Sr., Charles Irwin and Bill Smith, Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Alaf Hanson, Tom Meisener, Clyde Reeves, Tom Robinson, Babe Reed and Jake Riehle.
