Barrett, Russell J. (January 26, 1916 - September 21, 1965)

Friends and relatives were shocked to learn of the unexpected death September 21 of Russell J. Barrett, California Interstate Telephone Company of Yerington, Nev., who succumbed at St. Mary's Hospital where he had been confined since August 30 for ankle surgery. Since coming to Yerington, Barrett had worked as an outside installer for CPT.

Funeral services were Friday from Freitas Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of the Masonic Lodge. Burial was made in the Masonic Plot in Yerington.

Russell was born January 26, 1916 in Surprise, Nebs., and was reared and attended school at Douglas, Wyoming. He was with the 41st Division in WW II, from 1940 to 1945, and served in the South Pacific area.

He was employed by the Mtn. States Tel. & Tel. Co. at Douglas from 1936 to 1949 and in Idaho from 1949 to 1953. In 1953 he secured a Civil Service position with the U.S. Navy as "Cable Splicer" at Las Vegas, Nevada. About two years ago he went to Yerington with the California Interstate Telephone Company.

He and his wife made their home in the Rio Vista Rancho Estate, at Yerington. He was a member of the Partneuff Lodge, 168, AF&AM.

In addition to his wife Ruth, other survivors include his mother, Myrtle Barrett, Douglas, Wyo.; a brother, Gordon Barrett, Casper, Wyo.; and a daughter, Mrs. Rae Rippetoe, Wichita, Kans. He is also survived by a grandson, a granddaughter, and a nephew.
