Douglas Budget - December 15, 2004Funeral services for Lura Mae Kintzler Barnes, 93, will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at First Southern Baptist Church in Douglas, with Pastor John Thomason officiating.
Interment will be at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes died of natural causes Dec. 10, 2004, at United Medical Center West in Cheyenne.
She was born Aug. 1, 1911, in Merna, Neb., to Fred and Sallie Hannah (Sauders) Mannschreck. She attended school in Merna. In June 1930, she married Alvin E. (Butch) Kintzler. To this union, three children were born.
The family moved to Riverton in 1937 and settled in the Pavillion area around 1940. In 1950, she moved to California, and later to Nevada, living there until moving to Douglas in April 1998. She resided at Riverside Plaza II. she spent her last seven weeks in Cheyenne, living and laughing with a granddaughter and her husband.
Figure skating, car races, and horse races were events she enjoyed watching. But her greatest pleasures were when she could spend time with any of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Howard Mannschreck and Ralph Mannschreck.
She is survived by her children, Arlan and wife Ruth Kintzler of Pahrump, Nev., Elaine Williamson of Douglas, and Ron and wife Roslind Kintzler of Pahrump; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society in care of Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, Douglas 82633, would be appreciated by the family.
