Lottie Benham Dies at 84

Lottie Vera Benham, well-known long-time Douglas resident, died Monday, Sept. 24, at Wilson Rest Home in Douglas. she was 84 years of age.

She was born in Eldora, Iowa, on March 13, 1878.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Mabel Carpenter, Mrs. Betty Pickinpaugh, Mrs. Maude Bloem, all of Douglas; Mrs. Faye Byerly, Missouri; Mrs. Lyla Stewart, Nevada; Mrs. Esther McKee, Idaho; two sons, James H. and Geo. Benham, both of Idaho; 35 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 26, with the Rev. Edgar Hoffman officiating. Burial was in Douglas Park cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Mecham, Harold Schellinger, Jim Birdsall, Melvin Bloem, Geo. Jewell and Chester Rice.
