Unknown - August 14, 1958James W. Bennett, a resident of Douglas for many years, died in the V.A. Hospital in Cheyenne last Thursday, July 31, after a long illness.
Funeral services were conducted from the Stark Funeral Chapel on Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Clyde Thompson, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., Feb. 10, 1918, and was 40 years, five months, and 21 days of age. He was married at Gering, Neb., Oct. 5, 1936, to Virginia Ivester.
He accompanied his parents to Douglas when a young boy, and had made his home here since, during which time he attended schools at Orpha and in Douglas.
Survivors includes his wife and two sons, Clifford and Jack; his parents; four sisters, Mrs. Dorthia Zion, Glendive, Mont.; Mrs. Peggie Clark, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Charlotte Gunderman, Midwest; and Mrs. Deloris Baine of Denver. One brother, Morral, lives in Douglas.
He was a World War II veteran.
