SUDDEN HEART ATTACK CLAIMS LIFE
OF JESS BEELER SUNDAY NIGHT
Unknown - April 15, 1937Jess Beeler, 72, a resident of Douglas since 1918, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday evening about 8:15 o'clock.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Beeler found him dead at 11:15 p.m. when they returned home from the show. Earlier in the evening he was visiting at his son's house and had taken a newspaper and left for his home a short distance away. He dropped dead after going about 50 feet.
Jess Beeler was born at Marble Rock, Ia., Sept. 3, 1864. In 1886 he was married to Miss Emma Baird at Red Cloud, Nebr. Mrs. Beeler died at Guide Rock, Nebr., in 1965.
He was engaged in farming and ranching in Nebraska and came here 19 years ago to make his home. Beeler had numerous friends in and near Douglas and was highly respected by all who knew him.
Surviving are one son, Clarence of Douglas; and two sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Karnatz of Guide Rock,and Mrs. Hazel Bayless of Lincoln, Nebr. Two daughters preceded their father in death.
The body will be shipped tonight to Guide Rock for funeral services Thursday morning. Burial will be in the Shaffer Cemetery in Jewell county, Kans., a short distance from Guide Rock.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Beeler will accompany the body to Guide Rock.
