Douglas Budget - January 15, 1987Mass for Christian Burial for Gata Angela Beaulieu, 88, was held Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. James Catholic Church in Douglas with Father Philip Colibraro as the Celebrant.
Rosary was recited Friday, Jan. 9, at the Converse Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Beaulieu died Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas from heart failure.
She was born Jan. 21, 1898 at Gibbon, Neb. to Daniel Benedict and Gata Mary (German) McCarthy. She grew up at Thedford, Neb., and received her education in Nebraska for a few years.
On Jan. 1, 1928 she drove her "Ford Model T" to Wyoming to teach at the Lightning Creek School north of Douglas. She later taught the Hoskovec and Dawes schools.
On May 13, 1931 she married Leon Beaulieu in Casper. they ranched near Cold Springs, southwest of Douglas, until his death in 1956. She retained some of the ranch which remained her home until the time of her death.
She continued being very active with church activities and especially with outdoor work, and she enjoyed fishing and hunting. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, and St. James Catholic Church where she was active with the altar and rosary society.
She is survived by her daughter, Leone Olds, of Douglas; two sisters, Stasia Baker of Green River and Teresa Kerns of Casper, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Dan and Jim McCarthy and one sister, Luella Strong.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim Robinson, Jack Sullivan, Jim Stephenson, Bill Leman, John Grant, and Bill Vollman.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Lee Combs, Rory Cross, Bob Vollman, Ben LeVasseur, Art Horr, Art Sims, and Richard Jackson.
A memorial to the St. James Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
