MR. GEORGE BENNER
Unknown - August 23, 1962George J. Benner, son of George Benner, Sr. and Katherine, born Burkhardt, was born on December 5, 1892 at Alma, Nebraska. at an early age he came with his parents to Hastings, Nebraska. He was confirmed in the Christian faith in New York Ave Congregational Church, by Rev. Suffa. On Nov. 16, 1918 Mr. Benner was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Piester. The couple lived in Hastings until the year of 1941, when they moved to Douglas, Wyoming. In November of 1961 they returned to Hastings and lived in their home at 614 S. Lexington Ave.
Mr. Benner's work was principally with the Northwestern Railroad and the Railway Express, having worked in such cities at Fremont, Kearney, Grand Island, Neb., and Cheyenne and Douglas, Wyoming. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks.
The Benners were visiting in Douglas, Wyoming at the time of the 75th Anniversary of that community. While there he had a heart attack and passed from this life on July 16th. He had reached the age of 69 years, 7 months and 11 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife Lydia; one daughter, Mrs. Paul J. Krug of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren; one brother, Louis of Hastings, Nebr.; and three sisters, Mrs. Helene Deines of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Emily Clinton of North Platte, Nebr., and Miss Helen Benner of California.

Services were conducted on July 20th from the Butler-Volland Funeral Chapel of Hastings, the Rev. Henry Demler, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Interment was in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
