Unknown - July 13, 1967Funeral services for James Bowers were held Tuesday, July 11, at First Baptist Church in Douglas with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bowers, well-known retired rancher from the Dry Creek area, died at Converse County Memorial Hospital July 8.
James Amos Bowers was born June 15, 1893 in Mullen, Nebraska, the son of Web and Roxy Lane Bowers. He spent much of his early life in the Mullen area.
He came to Wyoming from the Sand Hills of Nebraska in 1919 and homesteaded in the Dry Creek area north of Douglas.
In 1936, Mr. Bowers was united in marriage with Mrs. Lucille Rupe and they lived in the Dry Creek community until May 1966, when ill health forced his retirement from ranching and they moved to Douglas.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lucille; two step-sons, Thomas Rupe and J.B. Rupe and families, Douglas; 3 brothers, Kent, Mullen, Nebr., Bob Horse Shoe Bend, Idaho; Charles, Denver, one sister, Susie, Mullen; and four grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were four grandchildren-Jim and Tom Rupe and Larry and Jacque Rupe; Clinton Owen and Lawrence Nachtman.
Honorary palllbearers were Web Stoddard, R.H. Stoddard, Jake Johnson, Jack Esau, Olof Hanson, Dick Stoddard, Bruce Goldby, Dean Septer, Babe Reed, Carroll Ballard, Fred George, Durward Robertson.
