Douglas Budget - July 14, 1990Memorial services for former Douglas resident Maude Benham Crabb will be held Thursday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational with Rev. Tom Hall officiating.
Mrs. Crabb died June 26, 1990 in Lancaster, Calif. She was born Sept. 2, 1911 in Chadron, Neb. to George and Lottie Benham.
Before leaving Douglas, she and her late husband Howard Bloem, who originated the first jackalope, owned and operated the Old Corral Cafe and Jack's Taxi. Mrs. Crabb was a bookkeeper for Hested's, Russell Queen and the Ford Garage.
Mrs. Crabb married William Crabb in 1978. While living in California, she worked at Edward's Air Force Base and the Salk Institute in San Diego.
She is survived by her children, Harold and Faye Bloem and Delores and Owen Olson of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Betty Pickinpaugh of Arvada, Colo., and Esther McKee of Douglas and one brother, Jim Benham of Boise, Idaho.
Mrs. Crabb was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Bloem Anderson.
A private graveside service will follow the services.
