Braae, Louise Marie Frances (Schmeling) (October 3, 1875 - March 10, 1948)

Unknown - March 18, 1948Mrs. Louise Braae, wife of Steven Braae, died early the morning of Wednesday, March 10, at the Converse county Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for two days. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Louise Marie Frances Schmeling was born at Ft. Atkinson, Wis., October 3, 1875, and was claimed by death at the age of 72 years, five months and seven days. She was the daughter of John Ferdinand and Augusta Johanna Lemke Schmeling. At an early age the family moved to a farm near Casey, Ia., where she later joined the Lutheran church.
On November 4, 1908, she was married to Steven Braae and to this union was born one child, Hattie Margaretha.
In February, 1917, they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., and later moved to a homestead about 30 miles south of Douglas. They made their home there until June, 1943, when they moved to Douglas.
Services for Mrs. Braae were held at the Hofmann Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 13, with Rev. A.C. Rostron officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Park cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Braae; her daughter, Mrs. Hattie M. Eddy and grandson Stephen Eddy, both of Seal Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Nittler, Des Moines, Ia., Mrs. Matilda Dahl, Dexter, Ia., and Mrs. Hattie Lemke of Minnesota; and one brother, John Schmeling of Casey, Ia.
