Douglas Budget - September 12, 2007Carrick Ab Butcher, 60, died of a sudden illness at Wyoming Medical Center on Sept. 4, 2007. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Casper to Ty and Opal Butcher of Glenrock.
Carrick grew up in Glenrock and graduated from Glenrock High School. He briefly attended college in Chadron, Neb. After college he married Rita Newman of Glenrock in 1968. They had three children and later divorced.
He worked at the Dave Johnston Power Plant as a welder and a foreman for 30 years and retired in 2002.
He loved to read, play golf and spend time with his family. He especially enjoyed attending school functions for his grandchildren, such as school plays, and sports such as football, volleyball and wrestling. He was always a very patient man and very giving of his life. He was always building something, big or small. He loved to be outdoors. He will be missed by many, and loved always.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Butcher; brothers Burton Butcher and wife of Douglas and Roger Butcher and wife of Los Angeles; four daughters, Megan Butcher and Tammy Kelley of Glenrock, Shanna Woodard of Palmbay, Fla., and Heather Hobza of Casper; son Brandon Butcher of Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Donna Butcher of Douglas and five grandsons and four granddaughters. he was preceded in death by his father Ty Butcher, mother Opal Butcher, daughter Marissa Butcher and son Chad Butcher.
Funeral services were held at Glenrock Community Baptist Church Sept. 7, with Pastor Rick Bishop officiating. Interment was in Glenrock Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Make a Wish Foundation. Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.
