Douglas Budget - April 17, 1991Funeral services for Dora E. Bruce, 92, of Miles City, Mont. were held April 11 at the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. David Johnson officiating.
A second funeral service was held April 13 at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, with Rev. Thomas L. Hall of the Congregation United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas.
Dora died Monday, April 8, 1991 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.
She was born in Lone Jack, Mo., on June 17, 1898 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Snow. She attended schools in Missouri and Normal school where she received her teaching certificate.
She was married to Archie T. Bruce in Kansas on June 16, 1917. Following marriage they moved to Douglas where she worked at the Hotel LaBonte from 1952 to 1967. She retired in 1967 and moved to Miles City in 1970 where she has resided until the time of her death.
She was a member of the Methodist Church for 67 years, a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 65 years and a 50-year member of the Order of Easter Star.
She is survived by three daughters, V. Leona Nissen of Panama City, Calif., Mrs. Jack (Katharyn) M. Bruce of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Gray of Ismay, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband in December 1951.
A memorial to the Ismay Community Church in Ismay, Mont. would be appreciated by the family.
The Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City and the Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas were in charge of the arrangements.
