Elma Anderson Laid To Rest
Douglas Budget - June 20, 1968Final rites for Elma Anderson were held June 17 at the United Church of Christ Congregational, with the Rev. Ernest Maedehe officiating. Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson a popular former Douglas resident, died of heart failure June 14 in a Grand Junction. Colorado hospital. She had been in ill health for two months.
Born Elma Catherine Christensen April 14 1896, in Audubon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Andrew and Katrina Christensen. She was united in marriage with Chris h. Anderson in Audubon, and spent her married life in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She came to Douglas in 1949, and resided here until several years ago when she moved to Grand Junction to be near her daughter and family, the John LeBars'. She visited her many friends in Douglas from time to time, and was guest of honor at numerous gatherings whenever she returned here.
Survivors are her daughter, Bette LeBar, Grand Junction, a grandson, John D. LeBar III; two granddaughters, Catherine Lebar Hamon and Artie Eileen, all of Grand Junction, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Harold Bernard Anderson.
Pallbearers were Ben LeVasseur, Bob Gentle, Frank Thurston, Herman Groothuis, Bill Canaday, and Earl Castle.
