Burnett, Carolyn Ann (November 10, 1942 - July 29, 1954)

Unknown - August 5, 1954

Funeral services were held Monday for Carolyn Burnett, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burnett, who lost her life in a tragic accident Thursday. Carolyn passed away at Memorial hospital after the bicycle on which she was riding and a pickup truck driven by Ted Ryan collided at the corner of North Third and Walnut streets shortly before 6 p.m.

Carolyn Ann Burnett was born November 10, 1942, in Douglas and completed the sixth grade at North Grade school this spring. Contrary to her fragile appearance she loved sports and was out-standing as a roller-skater and ice-skater, and was an arden fan of basketball and football. She was an active member of a square dancing group and belonged to the Girl Scouts.

Also musically talented, Carolyn took part in school Christmas operettas, sang with the small vocal groups in grade school, and studied piano. Her scholastic record was in the top portion of her class.

Rev. H.H. Lindeman officiated at the funeral services in the Congregational church. Pall bearers were John Rust, Bill Jones, John McCormick, Joe Sullivan, Jr., Jack Morton, and Ben Holberg.

She is survived by her parents; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burnett; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Ward; and one aunt and one uncle.

Out of town relatives and friends here for the funeral included Frank Burnett of Chula Vista, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. R.H. McDonald of Denver, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Snyder of Harlan, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Dinnebeck of Fort Collins, Colo., Dr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Ward of Casper, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson of Casper, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Brown and daughter, Karen, of Wheatland, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mattox and son, David, of Omaha, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. W.E.
