Unknown - June 22, 1967Funeral services were held at the Stark Chapel Tuesday morning at 10, June 20, 1967, for Mary Catherine Burk, who died at the Converse County Memorial Hospital June 17, 1967. The Rev. Cecil Phillips officiated.
Mary Catherine Wooten was born Dec. 11, 1882, at Knoxville, Tenn. At the age of eight her parents and family moved to Iowa. In 1910 she was united in marriage with Thomas S. Burk in Hamburg, Iowa. To this union five children were born. One daughter and one son died in infancy.
In 1918, the family moved to a homestead in the Dry Creek community where they lived until 1940. They moved to Douglas to make their home. Mr. Burk died August 10, 1953.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrtle Baker, of Douglas, and Mary Vanderwerker of Omaha, Nebr.; one son, Paul Burk, of Glenwood, Iowa; one brother, John Wooten of Albany, Ore.; one sister Emma McClellan, Tabor, Iowa, and 18 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wm.T. Baker, Richard J. Burk, Pete Henson, Steve Henson, Otto Bryson and Louis Dunn.
