Converse County Libraries Building Project

Meeting rooms, larger collections, more computers, additional space were all recommendations made for Converse County Library patrons and facilities by Library Planning Associates, Inc.. Responding to these needs, the Library Board of Trustees is moving forward with planning for expanded facilities for Converse County libraries. Bob Shinmori, Board Chair, says we’re pursing the “Cadillac” model but recognize we may have to settle for the “Ford”.

Board, Foundation, and staff members are joining together on four working committees. The architect/consultant committee is researching and preparing to recruit an architectural firm to evaluate present library sites. The fundraising committee is looking at grants and other funding options to explore financing possibilities. Staff members are compiling a list of “what ifs” and “wishes” to be considered in the new buildings. An information/marketing committee will be getting the word out to our communities and keep the public informed as the project progresses. To assure that new or expanded buildings meet present and future needs for library users in Converse County, members of the public will also be invited to participate as we move forward.
