OVERVIEW OF THE COLLECTION Abstract: Collection contains the records of this women’s club in Glenrock, Wyoming, including awards, minute books, scrapbooks, photographs, reports and other materials. Title: Records Dates: 1948-1987 Quantity: 5.28 cubic ft (4 document boxes and 4 large storage boxes) HISTORY OF THE GLENROCK WOMEN’S CLUB The Glenrock Women’s Club was organized in 1948 by a group of women working to build a public library for Glenrock. Their first meeting was held in December 1948 and they joined together to form a federated club. In 1949 the club helped secure a new town hall and in 1950, they helped renovate office space to attract a doctor for the town. The Wyoming Federation of Women’s Clubs named this project a top state winner. In later years, the club worked to get the streets of Glenrock marked and the houses numbered, improve the town water and sewer systems, sponsored community health programs, including CPR, and a children’s playground. The club disbanded around 1988. SCOPE AND CONTENT OF THE COLLECTION Collection contains minutes of meetings, photographs, scrapbooks, reports financial information, membership rolls, and other information relating to the club’s operations from 1948-1987. The collection also includes awards, reports by the club’s officers, information on their health fairs, a history written by club president Mary Yung, initiation ceremony information, scrapbooks with news clippings and ephemera, and yearbooks with list of officers and club activities. RELATED MATERIALS There are no other known archival collections created by the Glenrock Women's Club as of the time of processing. Processing Information: The collection was processed by Mark Shelstad in February 2003.
