OVERVIEW OF THE COLLECTION 
Abstract: Collection contains materials relating to the Smith Family of Glenrock, Wyoming, including information on Adelyna and Lewis Smith and their daughter, Lorraine.  The collection also includes five letters to Lorraine by Stub Iames during World War II.

HISTORY OF THE FAMILY 
Lewis Smith (d. 1951) was born in Glenrock and married Adelyna Louisa Goff (1892-1979) in 1918, the same year that their daughter Lorraine Smith was born.  Lewis served in World War I before returning to Glenrock.  Lorraine worked as a journalist in Glenrock.

 

SCOPE AND CONTENT OF THE COLLECTION
Collection contains Lewis Smith’s U.S. Army discharge papers; Lewis and Adelyna’s marriage certificate; a genealogy of the Goff Family; news clippings; photographs of Adelyna; the guest register from Adelyna’s funeral in 1979; and report cards, graduation cards and other materials for Lorraine; and five letters by Stub Iames from Germany during World War II to Lorraine describing his war time experiences.

There are no other known archival collections created by the Smith Family as of the time of processing.
